Coral Restoration at Hanauma Bay

Coral Restoration at Hanauma Bay is a multi-year effort led by the Hawai’i Coral Restoration Nursery under the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ (DLNR’s) Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR). A restoration pilot was started in October of 2020 with the outplanting of five nursery-grown coral colonies to the inner reef of Hanauma Bay. Donations to this program will support a number of planned projects to not only help Hanauma Bay’s inner reef, but also to improve the visitor experience, educate visitors more on the importance and fragility of coral reefs, and to increase the number and density of rare and endemic Hawaiian corals at Hanauma Bay.
