NOAA Responds To Beach Pilot Whales On Kauai

As reported by the Star Advertiser, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) marine mammal response network team is responding several beached whales on Kauai.

Just before 7:30 a.m. today, 13 October, the Coast Guard station on Kauai received a report of about seven to eight pilot whales beaching at Kalapaki Beach inside Nawiliwili Bay, according to Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Sara Muir.

Two whales are confirmed dead, according to NOAA Fisheries.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources is also responding.
